Canaletas, a Spanish drinking water fountain manufacturer with over 55 years of experience, launches the new Canaletas M-99IDOP model water dispenser
on the market, adapted to the demanding health measures of today. It is a “hands-free” drinking water fountain specially designed to refill 0.5 litre bottles, eliminating the use of plastic cups. It operates through sensors and does not require the user to touch it at any time.
Registration of the utility model patent of this new Canaletas model has been accepted, a privilege granted by the State as a recognition of the investment and work carried out with regard to new inventions.
The M-99IDOP water cooler
has two sensors for selecting cold or natural water by just moving the hand over them, without touching the buttons. In this way, full hygiene is guaranteed in using the drinking water fountain. Another notable aspect is that this drinking water fountain has sufficient cold capacity to refill bottles, thereby eliminating the need to use plastic cups, with the environmental benefit that this entails.Video of the M-99IDOP water cooler
Grupo Plastivaloire, a multinational in the automotive sector present in 12 countries, has been one of the first users of this new water dispenser
, purchasing several units for its Marinha Grande plant in Portugal. Joao Martins, Purchasing Manager, explains that “the M-99IDOP water cooler
from Canaletas is just what we needed, as the employees use it very frequently. Now, with these drinking water fountains, they feel more protected, while feeling happy to contribute to caring for the environment by eliminating the use of plastic cups.”
“Since the start of the pandemic,” explains Jordi Morera, Managing Director of Canaletas, “we have received increased demand for “hands-free” drinking water fountains. Our R&D department has worked constantly to develop new drinking water dispensers
which satisfy the current needs of our clients. This innovation work has allowed us to register a utility model patent, and we are also working towards registering a second utility model patent, also designed to increase the hygiene of drinking water fountains.”
A unique characteristic is that the new water fountain
has another sensor on the front which detects the presence of a bottle. “For safety,”, Jordi Morera explains, “the water is not dispensed if there is not a bottle in front of the front sensor. In addition to the sensors, other aspects for achieving greater hygiene are the spout being covered so that it cannot be touched, and cooling through a stainless steel coil.” Additionally, the height of the drinking water fountain, which is taller than average on the market, allows a more ergonomic use.
At the start of 2020, when the crisis emerged, Canaletas anticipated the new needs of the sector, and in record time developed drinking water fountains
which allowed bottles to be filled using a pedal. Since then, it has worked ceaselessly to develop new models in the same line. For many years, the company has manufactured drinking water fountains for the food and pharmaceutical sectors, and it therefore has extensive experience in manufacturing models with demanding hygiene requirements.
