For the first time in Spain Canaletas certifies the quality of their water coolers with the
UNE 149101 regulation.
According to the parameters established by this regulation, several tests have guaranteed that the water coolers manufactured by Canaletas do not alter the water’s composition. This certification is the result of many months of tests and studies on Canaletas’ water coolers. The tests were conducted by the experienced laboratory
Laboratorio Dr. Oliver Rodés, who analyzed more than 100 microbiological and physicochemical parameters. In order to conduct these tests the company OCA Institute of Certification took the team’s samples, sealed them, and transferred them to the laboratory where they were placed in a specifically well equipped space with a hydraulic circuit. Afterwards, OCA Institute of Certification performed an audit of the production process and was able to guarantee that Canaletas' water cooler production complied with the regulation.
Canaletas’ General Director, Jordi Morera, stated, “to fulfill the
UNE 149101 regulation we barely needed to modify anything in our process. This is very satisfying for Canaletas because we have been able to confirm the quality in our water coolers and drinking water fountains that we have been manufacturing for the past 47 years.”
In a press notice Canaletas explained that they carry out “a continuous investigation process to improve their water coolers and be in the vanguard of progress for their sector, thus satisfactorily exporting to five continents. This sensitivity is what made us become the first European company who certifies its sanitation system according to the regulations established by the WE (Water Cooler Europe Association)."
The purpose of the
UNE 149101 regulation, which has been written by the
Spanish Association of Standardization and Certification, is to protect the consumer’s health. Also, it is to protect those who drink from the water coolers and drinking fountains as well as to establish the water impurities limits. The analysis parameters that make up the Royal Decree 140/2003 establishes the sanitary criteria of the water’s quality for human consumption with the requirements of the
European’s Union directive 98/83/EC that was approved in 1998.
